A highly effective way to support your local library is to get in contact with other people in our district who feel the same.
This is what we’re hoping to achieve with the We ♥ Libraries campaign – a group of like-minded people celebrating libraries and reading, having fun doing it, and demonstrating that the service has real, grass-roots support in this area.
You can sign up here, letting us know your contact details, which branch you use, and about any campaigning skills or experience you may already have.
What will we do with this information? Well, we’d like to organise events and activities, particularly for National Libraries Week in February, and to tell you about them so you can get involved and attend them.
We’re also looking to set up a proper friends’ group with a constitution and committee at some point in the future. We’d really like to keep you in touch with any developments about branch opening and service accessibility that might come along.
We’re particuarly keen to hear from anyone who’s been involved with voluntary groups before and has the skills and experience to be a committee member. Treasurers, of course, are always particularly in demand.
But as well as specialists, we’re also looking for people with nothing more than simple enthusiasm to act as champions for their local branch, alongside others who feel the same. If you fit the bill, whether you’re in Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Baldock, Royston or another area of northern Hertfordshire, please do let us know. (If you’re under 18 you’re extremely welcome to get involved – but please get a parent or carer to agree that it’s OK.)
If you get in touch, your information will stay confidential and will not be shared with any third party without your express permission – this is an independent campaign that has no connections to any council, business or other organisation. We’ll use it for the purposes outlined above and will store it with due regard to its security. If you have any questions, just ask.
