On Tuesday last week members of We ♥ Libraries attended Speak Up for Libraries – a national lobby held at the Methodist Central Hall in Westminster to highlight the scale of library cuts around the country and to call on MPs to help mitigate them.
Today library champions and campaigners, authors, trade unionists, politicians and literacy advocates from around the country gathered in central London to make their point nationally – that government support for libraries is now long overdue.
If you’re a library fan who is worried about what is happening to the public library service nationally, and would like to speak up against cuts in places like Brent, Gloucestershire, Doncaster, Surrey and the Isle of Wight, you’ll have a great opportunity to show your support next month.
Today is the 96th birthday of the Women’s Institute – and the organisation is celebrating with a national day of action for its members.
Here’s an easy and worthwhile action for you to take part in if you want to show your support for the nation’s libraries.
